If They Had Put The ‘polish Corridor’ On The East Side Of East Prussia, Would It Have Averted Wwii?
I’ve always wondered that, if during the Treaty of Versailles, they had drawn the map through some Lithuanian or Pomeranian Baltic Sea port there, and not directly through East Prussia and the obviously German port city of Danzig, it wouldn’t have been a much better solution, because, at least Germany would not have been divided, and it would have been a better political solution when Germany revived and rearmed, leading to less political upheaval and resentments.
I’m not a Nazi or anything, just an American who happens to be of German ancestry, and wish all the bombing of Dresden and Hamburg and Berlin, etc. waste in human life and treasure, and moreover, subsequent truncating of my ancestral homeland after the war never happened.

No .
Hitler’s declared intention in Mein Kampf was the creation of a German Reich encompassing the territories to the east.
He considered the Slavs to be suitable material for slave labour and areas like the Ukraine could be exploited by German settlers.
If not Danzig, he would have found another pretext
Nothing would have stopped the Germans. If you recall, Sudetenland was supposed to be their last territorial demand. After their demand had been met they swallowed up the rest of Czechoslovakia. The Corridor was just the same German script applied to yet another country.
The bombing of Dresden was probably unnecessary but Hamburg and Berlin were legitimate targets. Besides, Germans bombed so many cities in my country (Poland) that it is hard for me to feel sorry for the destruction of any German cities – after all, they brought it on themselves.
Probably that alone wouldn’t have averted the war – too bad. Can you imagine if Hitler had just traded with the Russians instead of trying to take over their whole damned country!?
Everybody would be richer and 1000 years of architecture through Europe would still be there and families wouldn’t be missing members.
One wonder whether anybody (like Bush) who is in a hurry to start a war ever thinks about these things???
I seriously doubt it Hitler wanted Lebensraum (Living Room) in the East for the German people and that mean’t invading the Soviet Union it would probably just have slowed him down just like when they gave him Czechoslovakia but of course we will never know
