Cruise Over to Garrafon Natural Reef Park For Some Family Fun

Located just 25 minutes by cruise from Cancun, the Garrafon Natural Reef Park is one of the region’s best places to experience all the wonders of the Caribbean Sea. From kayaking and hiking to snorkeling and swimming with dolphins, the park offers a wealth of activities for all ages. Best of all, the Garrafon Natural Reef Park now features an array of affordable day-trip packages that include transportation, meals and activities. If you want to enjoy everything the Mexican Caribbean has to offer, hop aboard a cruise and spend an afternoon at the Garrafon Natural Reef Park.

Garrafon Natural Reef Park – sometimes referred to as El Garrafon National Park – lies on Isla Mujeres (”Island of Women”) just offshore from Cancun. The island features the remains of a Mayan temple overlooking the sea, a site popular for hiking and photography. Amongst the ruins, visitors will also find the Punta Sur Sculpture Park, a collection of 23 modern art sculptures by local and international artists. As the sculptures rest above a remarkable cliff, the scenery provided by the Caribbean Sea often steals the show.

The most enticing attraction at Garrafon Natural Reef Park is the warm, crystal-clear water. Averaging a depth of just 13 feet with calm conditions, the water at Garrafon is perfect for families hoping to enjoy the beautiful Caribbean Sea together. Beneath the shallow water near the shore – and further out along the coral reef – swimmers and snorkelers can watch tropical fish and other sea creatures darting through the sea. The calm waters at the park also provide the perfect conditions for kayaking or simply floating along and enjoying the sunshine. Regardless of how you choose to enjoy the beautiful waters here, all the equipment you need will be provided as part of your day-trip tour from Cancun.

The park’s most popular day-trip packages include a guided encounter or swim with local dolphins. The Dolphin Encounter allows visitors to get up close to the dolphins and watch them perform from in the water. This package is recommended by the park for families with small children. The Dolphin Swim package takes the fun one step further by offering families a chance to take a ride with the friendly creatures. The park’s best day-trip option is known as the Royal Swim and features two dolphin rides. The first ride lets swimmers coast through the water while grasping the fins of two dolphins. Afterwards, visitors are able to complete the experience by standing upright and allowing the dolphins to propel them across the water’s surface.

Adventurous types might also want to try scaling the Climbing Tower at Garrafon Natural Reef Park. Though the 50 foot climb might seem too much for some visitors, everyone that reaches the top is greeted by unrivaled panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea. The zip-line over the warm water is another great option for the thrill seekers of the family. As the zip-line allows you to cruise through the air and splash down in the sea, some visitors might find that this activity is both more exhilarating and less exhausting than the Climbing Tower.

If you have some time left over to relax in the park or elsewhere on the island, you might want to consider taking a leisurely hike or bike ride along one of the picturesque trails. If you really want to relax, however, recline in one of the park’s deck chairs or hammocks. The park also offers visitors the use of a beautiful 35-meter swimming pool. Set against the backdrop of the scenic coastline, the swimming pool is a great place for families to cool off as they wait for their cruise back to Cancun.

Garrafon Natural Reef Park offers all-inclusive day-trip packages starting at $65 for adults and $49 for children. The fee includes round trip transportation from Cancun via the park’s ferry boat, continental breakfast at the park, buffet lunch, drinks at the bar, all rental equipment (includes snorkeling gear, life jackets and kayaks) and access to all the park’s activities (includes the Climbing Tower, swimming pool and all leisure opportunities). If you want to participate in any of the park’s dolphin activities, the packages will be priced slightly higher.

If your family wants to spend a quiet day in the sun amongst the wonders of the Caribbean, Garrafon Natural Reef Park is the perfect Cancun day-trip.

Use Satellite Tv To Unlock The Vast Natural World

Our planet Earth is truly a wondrous place. One could probably spend their entire life trying to explore every corner only to discover that there’s always more to see.  Some particularly persistent individuals have taken just one aspect of the natural world and made it their life’s devotion. High definition satellite tv can give you a glimpse into their obsession in amazing clarity. Nature documentaries in particular provide a wealth of views of our amazing planet that everyone owes to themselves to watch.

The Planet Earth series provides the perfect example of how captivating the marvels of the natural world can be. It took two years to complete and is currently the most expensive nature documentary series to ever be commissioned by the BBC. It was also the first series of its kind to be filmed in high definition by the BBC. Even the immense scope of this series does not even begin to scratch the surface of the vastness of Earth. But it made an extremely valiant effort. Over its 11 episodes it goes through 11 different natural habitats, utilizing a storied narrative and award winning cinematography, From helicopter aerial views filmed high above of the hunting strategies of animals, to up close and personal views of prey narrowly escaping certain death from their predators’ jaws, the series will undoubtedly leave the appreciative viewer stunned and yearning for more. The high definition resolution really leaves the viewer feeling like they’re there witnessing the action for themselves..

Then there are the countless underwater diving series that can be viewed. They range from shipwreck dives to exploring the farthest depths of the sea that scientists can send their most sturdy equipment to. The shipwreck dives are interesting because not only can historical artifacts be recovered, but also marine life can be seen adapting to its new surroundings and can be studied in that environment. In fact, shipwrecks are home to a wealth of marine life because much like coral they provide shelter to the more vulnerable fish. Also, diving down so deep that only cameras can go (ie not humans) is interesting as well. Down at those depths the pressure is so great and sunlight so scarce, that it’s hard to imagine life sustaining itself. But life not only sustains itself, it thrives. All sorts of strange and odd-looking fish call the depths of the sea their home. Through modern marine technology these intriguing creatures can be recorded on film and through satellite tv you can view this in the comfort of your home.

Then there are the nature shows with a more human twist. They may involve watching an adventurous person go for a long trek through beautiful wilderness or a vacationing couple relaxing on a remote white sand beach. The serenity and beauty that can seen at either location is enough to take your breath away. Viewed in HD, it may take more than your breath away; it may take your heart too.

The only possible side effect of watching these kind of nature shows is that you may start having vivid dreams of relocating, even just for a few days, to these exotic-looking locales. You may even want to try your hand at diving at a shipwreck. If you can’t go, though, for any reason, HD satellite tv will always be your ticket to enjoy the vast majestic Earth from your living room.

Explore the natural world with the help of directtv packages. With directv packages you can take the fast track to exploring anywhere on Earth.

Dead Sea â?? One of the Well Known Tributaries

The Dead Sea is considered to be the deepest hypersaline lake in the world and it is about 1083 feet deep. The Dead Sea is around 67 kilometers long and around 11 kilometers wide. It is located between Israel on the east with Jordan and the west bank being located on its western part. The Jordan rift valley engulfs the Dead Sea and the Jordan River is one of the most important and foremost of the tributaries of the Dead Sea . Researches have revealed that in terms of salinity the Dead Sea is nine tomes saltier than the Mediterranean Sea and 8.6 times saltier than the ocean. In fact herein lies the root behind it having attained the name â??dead sea’. This is because the dead sea’s salinity percentage is extremely high, at about 30% and such a high percentage of salt presence has not facilitated the growth of any kind of aquatic plant or organism though certain minor forms of fungi and bacteria are found, hence the name dead sea. The dead sea is known by various names worldwide like Lake Asphaltites in Greek, al-Bahr al-Mayyit in Arabic, Yam ham-Melah in Hebrew meaning the â??sea of salt’. Apart from the various physiological features which make the Dead Sea a significant geographical location, there are several historical reasons due to which this region is equally noteworthy in the pages of history. According to the Holy Bible, this was the location where King David had sought refuge in times of antiquity. Moreover, it was here that the first of the world’s health resorts was built exclusively for the mighty Herod the Great. The region adjoining the Dead Sea is also known to provide various ingredients like potash for fertilizers and even balms which aided the Egyptians considerably in the process of mummification and the conservation of mummies.

The shore of the Dead Sea is noted to be the lowest dry place in the world and here the ultraviolet radiation is quite low with abundance of oxygen due to high barometric pressures. The weather is sunny and clear all around the year and average rainfall is around 50mm. it is also popularly believed by many that the mud of the Dead Sea is useful in the preparation of cosmetics and also has therapeutic effects. The mineral components which comprise the waters of the Dead Sea also provide various health benefits and thus extensive health research is carried out in the region. Various birds and animals are found in the Dead Sea area.
