This is a new series (1-21) of Verse No. in the Bible versus the Quran.

Verse No. 21 in the Old Testament says: And God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

The verse No. 21 in the Old Testament is Genesis 1:21

The verse continues talking about the creation of the heavens and the earth, it says: And God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

In this verse, God created the great sea monsters like the huge whales and

God created every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed.

In other words, God created the great sea-monsters, and every living creature that moves, wherewith the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind: and God saw that it was good.

Herein, it is clear that the bible states that every living creature that moves was created in the waters (waters herein refer to the Seas).  Were the animals like lions, elephants, tigers etc. created in waters (the Seas ) like the great sea monsters?

The verse No. 21 in the New Testament is Matthew 1:21

In the articles 18-20, Saint Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant and because he was a righteous and a jut man and unwilling to put her to shame, he did not want to expose her to public disgrace. So, he decided to divorce Saint Mary!

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

In verse Matthew 1:21, the angel continues saying to Joseph:

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins

On the other hand, the Muslims’ faith about Saint Mary, peace be upon her; is that

She lived and died as a “Pure, Untouched, and an Outstanding Virgin Woman”. although the Bible  insists that she was pledged to be married to Joseph, then she married him and then she had babies from him and then those babies are the brothers of God!

The linguistics meaning of the name Jesus

Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew Joshua, which means Savior,  In Hebrew the name “Jesus” means “the Lord saves.”  Also, Jesus means God is help

Verse No. 21 in the Noble Quran is 2:14,

Chapter 2 is Surah AL-BAQARA (THE COW),

Verses 2:8-20 are talking about the hypocrites

Verse 2:8 (See article 15) states that the hypocrites say: ‘we believe in Allah and the last day, ‘ yet they are not believers.

Verse 2:9 (See article 16) says: They think to beguile Allah and those who believe, and they beguile none save themselves; but they perceive not.

Verse 2:10 (See article 17) says: “There is a sickness in their (the hypocrites) hearts which Allah has increased; for them there is a painful punishment because they lie.”

Verse 2:11 (See article 18) says: when it is said to them: Do not corrupt in the land;  they (the hypocrites) say: we are only reformers.

Verse 2:12 (See article 19) says: are not they indeed the mischief-makers? but they perceive not.

The verse 2:13 says: and when it is said to them: believe as the people believe they say: shall we believe as the fools believe? now surely they themselves are the fools, but they do not know

The verse 2:14 continues talking about the hypocrites; and says: when they meet those who believe, they say, ‘we, too believe. ‘ but when they are alone with their devils, they say to them: ‘we follow none but you, we were only mocking

The meaning of verse 2:14

And when the hypocrites fall in with those who believe, they say: We too believe deep in our hearts and are genuine in our faith just as you believe deep in your hearts and are genuine in your faith; but when they go apart to their devils, to their soothsayers and leaders, they declare to their leaders: Lo! We are with you, we follow your religion in secret; surely we did but mock Muhammad and his Companions.

In other words, When they meet those who believe, they say, ‘We believe’; but when they go apart, away from them and return, to their devils, their leaders, they say, ‘We are with you, in religion; we were only mocking, them [the believers] by feigning belief.

It is very premature to ask this question:

Is the Quran quoted from the Bible?

Wait and you will see.

Before dealing with the topic of the Fish in Quran versus Bible versus sciences, it is mandatory to remember that the total words in the Bible are 788,280 while the total words in the Quran are 77,473. It follows that, the Bible is more than 10 times the Quran word-wise. The Fish is mentioned 64 times in the Bible and six times in the Quran, i.e. the Bible mentions the Heap more than 10 times as does the Quran. In other words, the Bible has the potential of more than 10 times (word-wise) and more than 10 times (subject-wise) than the Quran to talk about the Fish.

The Fish in the Bible:

The Lord says: 1) “I dry up the sea, I turn rivers into a desert; their fish rot for lack of water and die of thirst”, 2) “I will make you a bare rock, and you will become a place to spread fishnets. You will never be rebuilt,” 3) “I will put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your streams stick to your scales. I will pull you out from among your streams, with all the fish sticking to your scales”, 4) “I will leave you in the desert, you and all the fish of your streams. You will fall on the open field and not be gathered or picked up. I will give you as food to the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air” and 5) “I will sweep away both men and animals; I will sweep away the birds of the air and the fish of the sea”

Isaiah 50:2

Ezekiel 26:5

Habakkuk 1:14 contradicts with the sciences and with 1 Corinthians 15:39

When Moses met his Teacher:

18:61-66

[61] But when they reached the Junction, they forgot (about) their Fish, which took its course through the sea (straight) as in a tunnel.

[62] When they had passed on (some distance), Moses said to his attendant: “Bring us our early meal; truly we have suffered much fatigue at this (stage of) our journey.”

[63] He replied: “Sawest thou (what happened) when we betook ourselves to the rock? I did indeed forget (about) the Fish; none but Satan made me forget to tell (you) about it: it took its course through the sea in a marvellous way!”

[64] Moses said: “That was what we were seeking after:” so they went back on their footsteps, following (the path they had come).

[65] So they found one of Our servants, on whom We had bestowed mercy from Ourselves and whom We had taught knowledge from Our own Presence.

[66] Moses said to him: “May I follow thee, on the footing that thou teach me something of the (Higher) Truth which thou hast been taught?”

The Israelites and the trial of the Fish

Surah 7: 163

Ask them concerning the town standing close by the sea. Behold! they transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath. For on the day of their Sabbath their fish did come to them, openly holding up their heads, but on the day they had no Sabbath, they came not: thus did We make a trial of them, for they were given to transgression.

Surah 5:96, 97

[96] Made lawful to you is the fished of the sea and its use for food, for the benefit of yourselves and those who travel; but forbidden is the pursuit of land-game, as long as ye are in the Sacred Precincts or in pilgrim garb. And fear Allah, to Whom ye shall be gathered back.

[97] Allah made the “kaaba”, the Sacred House, an asylum of security for men, as also the Sacred Months, the animals for offerings, and the garlands that mark them: that ye may know that Allah hath knowledge of what is in the heavens and on earth and that Allah is well-acquainted with all things.

The Benefits of the Sea:

Fish to eat, ornaments to wear and ships for travels and transportation

Surah 16:14

It is He Who has made the sea subject, that ye may eat thereof flesh that is fresh and tender, and that ye may extract therefrom ornaments to wear, and thou seest the ships therein that plough the waves, that ye may seek (thus) of the bounty of Allah and that ye may be grateful.

Surah 35:12

Nor are the two bodies of flowing water alike, the one palatable, sweet, and pleasant to drink, and the other, salt and bitter. Yet from each (kind of water) do ye eat flesh fresh and tender, and ye extract ornaments to wear; and thou seest the ships therein that plough the waves, that ye may seek (thus) of the Bounty of Allah that ye may be grateful.

Surah 5:96, 97

[96] Made lawful to you is the fished of the sea and its use for food, for the benefit of yourselves and those who travel; but forbidden is the pursuit of land-game, as long as ye are in the Sacred Precincts or in pilgrim garb. And fear Allah, to Whom ye shall be gathered back.

Before dealing with the topic of the Fish in Quran versus Bible versus sciences, it is mandatory to remember that the total words in the Bible are 788,280 while the total words in the Quran are 77,473. It follows that, the Bible is more than 10 times the Quran word-wise. The Fish is mentioned 64 times in the Bible and six times in the Quran, i.e. the Bible mentions the Heap more than 10 times as does the Quran. In other words, the Bible has the potential of more than 10 times (word-wise) and more than 10 times (subject-wise) than the Quran to talk about the Fish.

The Fish in the Bible:

The Lord says: 1) “I dry up the sea, I turn rivers into a desert; their fish rot for lack of water and die of thirst”, 2) “I will make you a bare rock, and you will become a place to spread fishnets. The Sons of the Lord God in Bible versus Quran (6)

This is the sixth article of the series:” The Sons of the Lord God in Bible versus Quran”.  The Bible says that the Lord God, the Almighty Creator, has SONS but who among the sons of God is like the LORD? The Lord God is very terrible; He is fearful over all surrounding Him, He is the ruler over the pride of the sea. He crushed Rahab like one of the slain and scattered His enemies with His mighty arm.

But what is the pride of the sea?  Also, Ahab is not mentioned therein.   In addition, Allah does not need to use a mighty arm to scattered His enemies; when He wants anything he just say: Be and it is as He wants.

The Sons of the Lord God in the Bible (6)

In Psalm 89:6-10 the Bible says:

For who in the skies is comparable to the LORD? Who among the Sons of God (sons of the mighty) is like the LORD, the Lord God is very terrible, In the secret counsel of His holy ones, And fearful over all surrounding Him.  O LORD God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds you.

O LORD God of hosts, You are the ruler over the pride of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them in the lifting up of its billows Thou dost restrain them. O LORD God of hosts, You Yourself crushed Rahab like one who is slain; you scattered your enemies with Your mighty arm.

Sons of God versus sons of the mighty:

The original Hebrew version says: Who among the Sons of God is like the LORD?

Herein again, the original word “Sons of God” is translated to five different translations, the nearest one of them is the “sons of the mighty”.

The five different translations of the “Sons of God” in 18 Biblical versions:

In 18 different versions of the Bible, the word “Sons of God” is translated to five different translations; they are sons of the mighty (in seven versions), the heavenly beings (in seven versions), the angels (in two versions) and the holy angels and the mightiest angels in one version each..

If you smart reader is interested, have a look at these 18 different versions of the Bible at the site of BibleGateway.com.

On the other hand, the Bible does not tell the names of the Sons of the Lord God, the Bible also does not give the physical attributes of the Sons of the Lord God. In addition, the Bible does not tell what the number of the Sons of the Lord God was and how many they were?

In short, the Bible does not let us know who, how, when, where, how many etc. in respect to the Sons of the Lord God.

Furthermore, the Bible gives some informative details about the sons of Judah, for example, but does not give any details about the Sons of the Lord God, the Almighty Creator, who of course are very much more important than the sons of Judah.

The Sons of the Lord God in the Quran (6)

On the other hand, the Quran makes it very clear and says that Allah, the Almighty Creator, has neither a son nor a partner.

The Quran decisively forbids saying that Allah has a son.

It is not befitting for the Majesty of Allah to take to Himself a son.

Allah has not taken any son either from the Children of Adam or from the angels.

Allah is exalted, magnified, He is above what they associate with Him of son or partners.  Allah is far transcendent above all that they ascribe unto Him!

In Islam, this point is very important faith wise.

Again, it is unforgivable sin to say or to believe that the One Almighty Creator [who is Allah or God or the Lord or Jehovah or whatever name(s) you are giving Him] has a son or Sons.

From the Islamic point of view, the conclusion of this essential topic that may establish or destroy the faith is that:

Any one who believe that the Almighty Creator has a son or Sons; he messes his faith up and is considered as a disbeliever and in the afterlife he will end up as an eternal inhabitant of the hell.

This is the sixth article of the series:” The Sons of the Lord God in Bible versus Quran”.  The Bible says that the Lord God, the Almighty Creator, has SONS but who among the sons of God is like the LORD? The Lord God is very terrible; He is fearful over all surrounding Him, He is the ruler over the pride of the sea. He crushed Rahab like one of the slain and scattered His enemies with His mighty arm.

But what is the pride of the sea?  Also, Ahab is not mentioned therein.   In addition, Allah does not need to use a mighty arm to scattered His enemies; when He wants anything he just say: Be and it is as He wants.

The Sons of the Lord God in the Bible (6)

In Psalm 89:6-10 the Bible says:

For who in the skies is comparable to the LORD? Who among the Sons of God (sons of the mighty) is like the LORD, the Lord God is very terrible, In the secret counsel of His holy ones, And fearful over all surrounding Him.  O LORD God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds you.

Sons of God versus sons of the mighty:

The original Hebrew version says: Who among the Sons of God is like the LORD?

Herein again, the original word “Sons of God” is translated to five different translations, the nearest one of them is the “sons of the mighty”.

The five different translations of the “Sons of God” in 18 Biblical versions:

In 18 different versions of the Bible, the word “Sons of God” is translated to five different translations; they are sons of the mighty (in seven versions), the heavenly beings (in seven versions), the angels (in two versions) and the holy angels and the mightiest angels in one version each..

On the other hand, the Bible does not tell the names of the Sons of the Lord God, the Bible also does not give the physical attributes of the Sons of the Lord God. In addition, the Bible does not tell what the number of the Sons of the Lord God was and how many they were?

In short, the Bible does not let us know who, how, when, where, how many etc. in respect to the Sons of the Lord God.

Furthermore, the Bible gives some informative details about the sons of Judah, for example, but does not give any details about the Sons of the Lord God, the Almighty Creator, who of course are very much more important than the sons of Judah.

On the other hand, the Quran makes it very clear and says that Allah, the Almighty Creator, has neither a son nor a partner.

The Quran decisively forbids saying that Allah has a son.

It is not befitting for the Majesty of Allah to take to Himself a son.

Allah has not taken any son either from the Children of Adam or from the angels.

The verse continues talking about the last day of the creation of the heavens and the earth, it says: And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Man was created the same day that the wild animals were created

Now we are on the sixth day of the creation of the heavens and the earth; on that day God created the beasts, the wild animals and the livestock as well as man i.e. man was made the same day that the beasts were made.

Is man the last of all the God’ creatures? in Bible versus Quran

According to Genesis 1:26,  the sixth day of the creation of the heavens and the earth was done and Man was made last of all the creatures. In the Quran: Allah is still Creating and He Will Create new creatures which WE DO NOT KNOW.

Verse 16:8 of the Noble Quran says:

QARIB: He has created for you horses, mules, and donkeys, which you ride and as an adornment; and He creates what you do not know.

It should be emphasized that the verb create in this verse (16:8) comes in the present tense, that in Arabic indicates the permanence and the continuity of the action both in the present time and in the future. This declares that Allah is still creating and He will create new creatures which WE DO NOT KNOW.

One has to become aware of this fact!

The verse No. 26 in the New Testament is Matthew 2:1

The verse says: Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,

Who is Herod?

Herod was the king of Judea who (according to the New Testament) tried to kill Jesus by ordering the death of all children under age two in Bethlehem.

why did king Herod want to kill Jesus?

The Biblical Scholars say that, Herod was ruthless and power hungry. He would stop at nothing. Previously, he had murdered his wife, his three sons and his uncle, as well as countless other people. Jesus was a threat to him so killing many infants in order to get rid of Jesus was Herod’s plan.

Who are the Magi?

The Magi are the wise men, generally assumed to be three (or more) in number, who traveled to Bethlehem to pay homage to the infant Jesus.  They are the class of Zoroastrian priests in ancient Media and Persia, reputed to possess supernatural powers.

Magus is one of the Magi who is a magician, sorcerer, astrologer. or a Zoroastrian priest.

From Middle English magi, from Latin mag?, pl. of magus, sorcerer, magus, from Greek magos, from Old Persian maguš.

Magi in Arabic is Magous

Magi is translated from Arabic to English as Magians

However, Magi in Arabic is “Magous”

In contrary to English, Magous is the plural form; its single form is “Magousee”.

Magous are three or more in number; Magousee is only one person.

The Magous are the worshippers of the sun and fire;

They believe that anything either comes from the light or the darkness.

The good things come from the light.  The evil things come from the darkness.

That is why they worshipped the sun that is the source of light at day; and the Fire that was the source of light at night.  They had temples, priests, servants and festivals for the Fire that is considered as god in their faith. The Magous do not believe in the Hereafter.

Now the question is: Are the Magi wise men? Is the one who sets on and set off the Fire and worships it a wise man?

Verses 2:8-20 are talking about the hypocrites

Verse 2:8 (See article 15) states that the hypocrites say: ‘we believe in Allah and the last day, ‘ yet they are not believers.

Verse 2:9 (See article 16) says: They think to beguile Allah and those who believe, and they beguile none save themselves; but they perceive not.

Verse 2:10 (See article 17) says: “There is a sickness in their (the hypocrites) hearts which Allah has increased; for them there is a painful punishment because they lie.”

Verse 2:11 (See article 18) says: when it is said to them: Do not corrupt in the land;  they (the hypocrites) say: we are only reformers.

Verse 2:12 (See article 19) says: are not they indeed the mischief-makers? but they perceive not.

Verse 2:13 (See article 20) says: and when it is said to them: believe as the people believe they say: shall we believe as the fools believe? now surely they themselves are the fools, but they do not know

Verse 2:14 (See article 21) says: when they meet those who believe, they say, ‘we, too believe. ‘ but when they are alone with their devils, they say to them: ‘we follow none but you, we were only mocking

Verse 2:15 (See article 22) says: Allah shall pay them back their mockery, and he leaves them alone in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on.

Verse 2:16 (See article 23) says: these are they who have bartered guidance for error: but their traffic is profitless, and they have lost true direction,

Verse 2:17 (See article 24)  says: their parable is like the parable of one who kindled a fire but when it had illumined all around him, Allah took away their light, and left them in utter darkness; they do not see.

Verse 2:18 (See article 25) says: deaf, dumb, and blind, they will not return (to the path).

Verse 2:19 continues talking about the hypocrites; and gives a strange social and scientific simile whereby the likeness of the hypocrites vis-à-vis the Quran. The verse says: or like a rainstorm from the sky, wherein is darkness, thunder and the flash of lightning. they thrust their fingers in their ears by reason of the thunder-claps, for fear of death, Allah encompasses the disbelievers (in his guidance, his omniscience and his omnipotence).

The meaning of verse 2:19:

Or like a rainstorm from the sky. This is another simile or parable, whereby the likeness of the hypocrites vis-à-vis the Quran is like rain that has poured down from heaven at night onto the wilderness, (wherein is darkness, thunder and the flash of lightening). Such is the Quran.

For it has come down from Allah; it contains darkness as embodied in the exposition of seditions, thundering of rebuke whereby fear is instilled, lightening of exposition, instruction and promise.

They thrust their fingers in their ears by reason of the thunder-claps, due to the sound of the thunder (for fear of death), for fear of misfortune and death. Similarly, the hypocrites used to put their fingers in their ears when they heard the Quran recited, delivering promises and threats like thunder-claps, and this they did for fear of death, i.e. for fear of being drawn to it.

And Allah encompasses the disbelievers and hypocrites, i.e. He knows them and will gather them in Eternal Fire.

In other words, the likeness of them is as a cloudburst, that is, [the likeness of them is] as people are during rain; out of the heaven, out of the clouds, in which clouds is darkness, layer upon layer, and thunder, the angel in charge of them;

it is also said that this [thunder] is actually the sound of his voice; and lightning, the flash caused by his voice which he uses to drive them.  They, the people under the rain, put their fingers, that is, their fingertips, in their ears against, because of, the thunderclaps, the violent sound of thunder, in order not to hear it, cautious of, fearful of, death, if they were to hear it.

Similar is the case with these: when the Quran is revealed, in which there is mention of the unbelief that is like darkness, the threat of punishment that is like the sound of thunder, and the clear arguments that are like the clear lightning, they shut their ears in order not to hear it and thereby incline towards [true] faith and abandon their religion, which for them would be death; and Allah encompasses the disbelievers in both knowledge and power, so they cannot escape Him.
